From our guests...

Dwayne,

I was compelled to write you a note after our 2009 archery moose hunt. First, I want to thank you for all you have done for us. It all started with your suggestion to move us to an area that you believed had more moose so we might have better success this year. I have to admit, I was hesitant to move from the area where we had previously hunted the three years prior. Knowing that you had our best interest at heart we agreed to move to the new area. This area was everything you said it would be. You scouted for us and set up a tent at our camping spot, complete with a brand new wood stove. We didn't expect you to provide us with detailed maps. You even pointed out where you thought we might find a bull. You were right on the mark. I proceeded to shoot a 48" bull exactly where you put the "X" on the map! You are one heck of a guide. I have archery hunted moose at three different outfitters over the past 15 years. I have never saw a guide with so much enthusiasm and knowledge. Your passion for moose hunting and your integrity is unmatched. You exceeded our expectations and went above and beyond. I would highly recommend your services to anyone. In fact after a lifetime of hunting I can truly say "it doesn't get any better than this". We will be back again next year.

Thanks again,
Mike Vande Ven

Fishing @ Thousand Lakes Outposts

Thousand Lakes Outposts camps are located in the vast and rugged Boreal Forest area of Northwestern Ontario, an area well known for the thousands of pristine lakes dotting the landscape filled with walleye and northern pike.  The area also provides the perfect habitat to sustain high numbers of moose, providing hunters with excellent opportunities to bag the trophy of their dreams.

We are located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, but all of our flying is done from Wabagimi Air near Armstrong, about a two and a half hour drive north of Thnunder Bay.  The road is paved all the way and is a very scenic drive with lots of wildlife on the way.

The reputation of Kearns and Stonehouse Lakes as being two of the best fishing lakes in the region is best summed up by television host RD of the popular fishing show "The Rugged Dude":

"Back in 2006 I spent a few days on Kearns Lake with Thousand Lakes Outposts and I saw some of the hottest walleye fishing ever. We only needed 45 minutes to get enough "A footage' for a whole show.  I'll be going back again in 2009 - and I can't wait!"

RD, "The Rugged Dude"
Host and Executive Producer of Officially Rugged with RD, available across North America to more than 40 million homes.

Kearns and Stonehouse camps have ultra delux cabins that offer separate sleeping quarters, pine walls, oak laminate flooring, indoor flush toilet, shower, hot and cold running water, propane fridge and freezer, FTA television with DVD player, and solar lights with generator back up.  Outside the patio door at Kearn's you'll find a large deck equipped with a BBQ and propane fish fryer.  A short distance from the cabin is a fully enclosed fish house equipped with lights and running water that allows you to clean the day's catch outside without being bothered by pesky flies.  Newer boats with 9.9 mercury motors give you the power you need to get out on the lake to find those honey holes so you can keep those fishing biting on your line.

Kearns is a camp that sleeps 12, so if your party is 4 people or less, you may choose to stay at Stonehouse.  Stonehouse is a very cozy cedar log cabin located on a small secluded lake where the wind and waves aren't a concern.  Great for smaller groups, Stonehouse would make the perfect private getaway for those newlyweds who choose to fish on their honeymoon!  It is equipped with 2 boats and motors for your use or you can chose to take the 10 minute walk over to Kearns lake to fish there.

Fishing Licenses

There are a couple of options for you in regards to obtaining your fishing license.  You may choose to wait until after you've crossed the border into Canada, or you can go to the Ministry of Natural Resources website to get your outdoors card and license online or you can call their toll free telephone number.

We recommend the 8 day conservation license, it's half the price and still allows you to catch and release as many fish as you like.
