From our guests...

I have fished J-V/Kearns lake every year since 1983 and it is by far the best lake I have ever fished, including some in Alaska.  It is a lake where you can catch 30-75 walleyes a day that weigh up to 12 lbs.  Most in the 2-7 lb range.  If you are after northern you will catch plenty of them as well.  My largest was 31.6 lbs.  Every year we have had several in the 20 lb plus range.  Why go any place else to fish!  The camp is very comfortable, with just about everything you will need provided.

About Thousand Lakes Outposts

Your hosts, Dwayne and Terry, are both life long residents of the Thunder Bay area.  Dwayne grew up hunting, fishing, and trapping in the area for a variety of fish and game.

Dwayne and TerryDwayne has been flying airplanes since 1985 and throughout his career has had experience flying several different bush planes for various local outfitters and has also served as captain for Bearskin Airlines.   Dwayne has been a police officer since 1992 and is posted to an airborne unit, flying a Pilatus PC12.  During the winter months Dwayne enjoys maintaining his two trap lines.  During the summer and autumn seasons Dwayne loves to indulge  his passions for hunting and fishing, the perfect fit with life as an outpost camp operator.  Dwayne is well known as an avid moose hunter, both with a bow and a rifle and has four record kills to his name  with the largest having a 62 1/2 inch spread and scoring 203 7/8, the others scored 190 4/8, 177 7/8, and 174 5/8 respectively.   All of these trophy moose were taken in the area that Thousand Lakes Outposts now runs the moose hunting camps.  Look for the pictures in the album.

Terry completed her BSC honors in Anthropology with a minor in forensics and DNA.  Soon after graduation, Terry was employed  as a 911 call taker and dispatcher, and continues with that today.   Terry's hobbies include a variety of crafts, glass bead making, glass fusion, stained glass, jewelry making, carving, scrap booking, doll making, knitting, ceramics, and many others.

Terry and Dwayne have taken their kids on fly-in fishing trips and know what is expected and what makes a trip frustrating.  Although both have full time jobs, due to the shift work, they effectively only work 6 months a year.  Both have a solid commitment to the outposts and work tirelessly to ensure the camps are in top condition and the details of your trip are taken care of.   They are hard working, honest people that will make your vacation one to remember.
